Should I Buy Electric or Air Driven Ink Pumps?

Sales are about equal, so why should you pick one over the other?

Reasons to purchase Air Pumps:

1. If you have a good air supply. Abundant and clean then air should definitely be considered.
2. The speed is easily adjusted by controlling the air flow & pressure.
3. They are lightweight and more compact than electric.
4. They are intrinsically safe in hazardous areas.
5. If the job doesn’t require high flows and heads. Air is expensive to produce so if you need to run the pumps at high speeds to reach the stations on a large press then you can bargain on a heavy air usage.
6. Low maintenance costs. You can repair an air motor for much less than an electric.

Reasons to purchase Electric Pumps:

1. You need a guaranteed constant speed. Most pumps now run at 2 pole motors speeds and this will give you high flow and head capability.
2. If your air supply is poor or inconsistent you should buy electric pumps.
3. Your press is already fitted with electrical sockets.
