Ink Mixing
Powerwise Ink Pumps believe now and have done for many years that there is no better way to mix ink in a container than by using a by-pass system. The ink can be mixed uniformly and the operator has control over how much or how little he needs to agitate the ink. The mixing can be achieved as the press is running without stopping to adjust some other parts of the pump that maybe covered in ink!
It also avoids the use of wooden paddles that is a hit and miss affair, but does give you a hands on approach, especially when you smear ink all over your coworkers face!
Peristaltic and Double Diaphragm pumps have increased in use over the last few years and have not made the by-pass unusable, but they have made them difficult to add to this type of pump. We have introduced a line of mixers or agitators that can be fitted into the lid of the container and allow the operator to mix the ink when using these types of pumps.
They are easy to use and come with a variety of different propellers to allow varied mixing for different applications. The peristaltic pump has no natural mixing capabilities and if you are looking to change over to this style of pump then you should seriously consider adding a small mixer. We suggest an air mixer as the first choice because they are small and can be fit easily onto a five gallon or 20 liter ink pail and lid. Powerwise have a wide range of stainless steel hinged lids that can be adapted to your particular requirements. These have proved very popular and this has led us into developing the Powerwise drum mixers.
Many printers buy their drum mixers from general mixing companies. We recommend you consult the experts, who move ink around the press area for a living! We can design ink mixers for your ink room or for your press side mixing. We have access to many different styles of propellers for varied consistencies of liquids and inks. We have designed ink systems that allow pumps to be switched on and off by level controllers.
